Located in Poço Fundo, South Minas, Coopfam was founded over 30 years ago as an association of family farmers and in 1998 became the first Fairtrade certified coffee cooperative in the country. Today they pride themselves on being one of the largest smallholder producer cooperatives in Brazil supporting over 800 families.

Coopfam specializes in producing high quality, Fairtrade coffee, while also supporting organic production, women-grown coffee and specialty microlots. Their community development projects have included general education and English language learning, as well as good agricultural practices and farming assistance.
