Thoughtful materials, every step of the way.
We believe every part of our process should reflect our values—from the way we source and roast coffee to the materials we use to package it. That means choosing packaging that not only protects the quality of what’s inside, but also supports resource stewardship, ethical operations, and shared value for our partners, communities, and the environment.
Whether you’re brewing at home or stocking shelves, this page is here to help you understand what goes into our packaging—and how to responsibly reuse, recycle, or compost it.
Coffee Bags
Our new 12oz coffee bags are made from BOPE—a recyclable film that’s strong, lightweight, and designed for long-term circularity.
Before recycling:
- Remove the tin tie (it's not recyclable).
- Drop the bag at a local film recycling location—these are often found at grocery stores and big box retailers.
More About BOPE
BOPE (biaxially oriented polyethylene) is a single-polyethylene structure—unlike mixed-laminates—and runs on standard film recycling systems. That means our coffee pouches can truly enter the recycling stream without the complications of multiple material layers. www.carepac.com
BOPE provides durability—resistant to tears, punctures, moisture, and temperature shifts—so the coffee inside stays fresh and protected, from our roastery to your brew bar, all while remaining recyclable. www.carepac.com
BOPE uses less energy to produce compared to traditional multilayer films, reinforcing our mission to reduce environmental impact at every step. www.marketresearchintellect.com
Compostable Pods
Single-serve doesn't have to mean single-use plastic.
Our Fairtrade Organic coffee pods are certified by the Composters Manufacturing Alliance and the Biodegradable Products Institute, and are accepted in industrial facilities that accept PLA. What's more, they are packaged in post-consumer recycled material, so 100% of the product can be diverted from a landfill.
Whether you’re enjoying our Fairtrade Organic coffee pods at home, stocking up for your café, or treating your AirBnB guests, you can feel good knowing they’re made from non-toxic, plant-based materials.
